Description

The percent of time (effort) for faculty and staff cannot exceed 100% during any term, including summer. For any term where additional work is requested above 100%, it must be counted and processed as Special Compensation and is subject to the limitations within policy 4.41 Special Compensation and Summer Appointments

On the Period Activity Pay (PAP) In UNI Works, “Work hours per week” or “Work hours per activity period” is collected instead of percent of time (see below).

UNI Works PAP Example of Image

During the summer term, when offering and processing payment for various types of work for faculty, Managers, PAP Preparers, and HR Liaisons will need to utilize the Summer Work Declaration (SWD) form and already submitted PAPs and OTPs to determine what other work is occurring during the given term and that the percent of time is not exceeding policy limits in each term. Percent of time is collected on the SWD.

Summer Term (All) - 2025 Percentage of Time

Other summer awards not in the above table need to specify workload and percentage by dividing the total number of hours working on the assignment by the number of working hours in a month:

Number of Working Days

Number of Summer Days

Hours in Month

For example, a faculty member is expected to work 4 hours per day for 5 days in the month of June. To calculate the percentage of time, divide 20 (4hrs x 5 days) by 168 hours (June hrs in month) = 11.9%.
