Curriculum Review

Curriculum review and approval for the 2025-2026 catalog will be conducted under the curriculum approval process. These procedures streamline the process by tracking proposals, depending on their type, into two parallel tracks, each with a shortened review schedule.

The Curriculum Handbook 2025-2026
Leepfrog opens for entry on March 15, 2025 and will remain available to departments until July 25, 2025 for final entry. Although entry can be made as late as summer, departments are encouraged to finalize faculty conversations around curriculum prior to May.

Consultations are conducted electronically
Consultations should be completed during the academic year unless prior arrangements are made to ensure the appropriate faculty are available for consultation during the summer.

Overview of the Approval Process

This process streamlines approvals by tracking proposals into two parallel tracks, depending on their type. The two tracks are Editorial and Substantive.

  • Editorial Pathway is for minor changes that are primarily a departmental decision, with deans making the final approval. These proposals do not go through UCC/GCC. Once deans approve a proposal, it will be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office for entry into the Next Catalog. Deans, or the Registrar can redirect proposals submitted as Editorial to the Substantive pathway, if there are errors or questions best resolved by UCC/GCC review.
  • Substantive Pathway is for more significant changes and requires review by UCC/GCC. After Dean’s approval, proposals go directly to UCC/GCC.

Department Planning Timeline

  • Departments can conduct internal planning during the fall or spring of an academic year.
  • Leepfrog will be open from March 15 through July 25 for entry; however, departments should remain cognizant of faculty contract periods and finish all planning and consultations prior to summer. Department Heads or administrative staff may enter proposals in summer, as long as faculty work has been completed.
  • New programs must get Board of Regents approval prior to Leepfrog entry; contact the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs as early as possible for information.
  • UCC/GCC review of proposals in the Substantive Pathway will be done in the fall semester following the July 25 closing of Leepfrog.
Planning Worksheets

The optional worksheets are for internal planning only. It is not a required form or step in the curriculum approval process. You may use these forms in planning your curriculum proposal prior to Leepfrog entry.

Experimental Course Approval Form

This form is utilized to set up a new experimental course at the Academic Catalog level, so that they may be included in the schedule. Experimental/Temporary courses can be offered under the x59 designation up to three times, after which the course must either be dropped or, to be offered again, must be approved as a new course.

The form may be accessed at the following link: Experimental Course Approval Form
